Weight Loss Healthy Overview

This site is all about making weight loss healthy. There are a lot of places you can get weight loss tips on the internet, but my concern is always to help you lose weight healthy and long-term. So, the focus of this article will be on healthy, sustainable weight loss. Here are some of the topics we will address and the questions we will answer:

- What weight loss healthy foods should I be eating and how do I create a nutrition plan that works?
- What makes certain food unhealthy?
- How do I design an exercise plan to lose weight for the long term?
- Is fast weight loss healthy?
- Are weight loss pills healthy?

But First, check out this video that makes the case for health by going in the opposite direction:

Weight Loss Nutrition

In its simplest form, proper nutrition is all about consuming more low calorie, high nutrition foods and reducing the consumption of high calorie, low nutritional value foods. You automatically make your diet healthy when you consume predominantly natural foods, like fruits, vegetables, sprouted grains, seeds, nuts, and organic, properly raised meats.

My preference is to focus on eating more good foods rather than trying to cut out unhealthy foods. This way, you are leaving less room for bad foods without starving yourself. Plus, you can eat a larger volume of fruits and vegetables for the same calories, in general.

So, try to keep it simple. If you eat the foods I mentioned above for 80% of your needed calories, you can then enjoy the other 20% without guilt. If you do this, you can expect some fast weight loss in the first few weeks. This will also make your weight loss natural and sustainable and most of your calories good for you.

What Makes Foods Healthy or Unhealthy?

There is a lot I could say on this subject. In brief, most natural foods are healthy. This is because they are in a form that our bodies can process properly. For example, fruits and vegetables have fructose that can be properly burned over the course of a couple of hours. This keeps our blood sugar from spiking. The amount of sugar in a soda, in contrast, will cause our blood sugar to spike and that sugar to be converted to fat, and weight gain. I should point out that I prefer fruits in vegetables in whole form as opposed to just juice. Too much fruit juice without the associated fiber to balance it out is not healthy. So, don’t worry about questions like – are carbs healthy? Focus on the natural foods in their natural state and you will be amazed at how much better you feel.

I would also like to point out that processed foods contain chemicals that our body simply doesn’t know what to do with. These chemicals can be stored in the body as toxins. For more comprehensive information on eating healthy for increased energy and weight loss, I recommend Eating for Energy.

Weight Loss Exercise

If you are not exercising much right now, I would recommend starting out with brisk walks every day and try to increase the distance over time. Walking is great for getting everything in the body lubricated and moving. It also releases fat stores to be burned off. So, if you hate the idea of a weight loss fitness plan that takes you hours a day and leaves you exhausted, start with walking.

If you want to take your fitness to the next level, you can mix in interval training. Essentially, interval training is short bursts of intense activity with brief rest in between. One very basic workout for interval training is, after you warm up, to run as fast as you can for 50 or 100 yards, walk back to the starting point and do it again for a total of 5-10 reps. This will actually ramp up you metabolism for up to 48 hours, which increases your basal metabolic rate. This means you are burning more calories even when you aren’t working out!

You can also try other bodyweight- only workouts that you can do at home in a small space with limited time and without exercise equipment. Here are a couple of suggestions:

- 10 Minute Abs (great core and abdominal exercise)
- TacFit Warrior
- 1000 Calorie Challenge System (If you REALLY want to burn fat fast!)

Here is a helpful video with some practical weight loss tips:

Is Fast Weight Loss Healthy?

This is a question I get all the time – is fast weight loss unhealthy? The answer is – it depends on how you do it. For example, I never recommend starving yourself for quick weight loss. This is unsustainable and unhealthy. Also, are fad diets healthy? In a word, no. Stay away from anything that sounds strange or extreme. As I have said previously, you will lose weight quickly by upping your intake of raw fruits and vegetables, raw nuts, raw seeds, and sprouted grains. I lost 13 pounds in the first 3 weeks of going to a diet that was 80% these foods WITHOUT changing my exercise routine! It will slow down after a few weeks, but that is ok. Healthy weight loss will be mostly slow and steady until you reach your goals.

Are Weight Loss Pills Healthy?

I recommend that you start your weight loss plan by changing your diet and exercise first before adding weight loss pills. Is Hydroxycut healthy? Is Hoodia healthy? Is Alli healthy? If you have any doubt, I would speak to your doctor about your healthy weight loss goals. But be careful, a lot of weight loss pills have caffeine in them and can make you feel jittery. Especially if you already drink coffee or soda (which, of course, you are going to stop after reading this article, right?)

In conclusion, make a decision to change your diet and increase your exercise level as a lifestyle change. Don’t starve yourself or “go on a diet”. Make your weight loss plans healthy!
