You’ll see a lot of people at the gym trying to target the fat on their love handles by doing exercises. Most of them are in the abdominal and stretching area doing things like side crunches, oblique machines, side bends, and sit ups.

The bad news is that you can’t melt the fat off your love handles with exercises. The good news is that you can remove them but you’ll have to do it mainly through your diet and by eating foods that will help you to burn fat.

Foods That Will Help Remove Your Love Handles

Certain foods are going to help you burn fat more than others. While you’re trying to lose your love handles it’s important to remember that you can’t spot reduce fat from specific areas of your body. You have to bring your overall body fat percentage down and your body will get rid of love handle fat when it’s ready. You’re just going to have to keep losing overall body fat until you get to that point.

If your diet is carb heavy, you’re going to need to shift your focus to proteins. Even traditional “healthy” foods like pasta and whole wheat are more than likely preventing you from reaching your weight loss goals. To get rid of your love handles I would recommend dropping both of those immediately and replace them with protein.

The Best Protein Sources For Fat Loss

The best protein is usually the least processed sources. My favorite is eggs. They are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and protein. Don’t throw out the yolk and just eat the white, however. Most of the vitamins are in the yolk as well as half of the protein. I wouldn’t worry about the cholesterol in the yolk unless you have been told by your doctor to avoid dietary cholesterol.

My second favorite protein source is steak. Any quality piece of meat is fine. Top sirloin is usually inexpensive and loaded with protein. Because of its lower fat content it’s not as tasty as a prime rib or filet mignon so make sure to treat yourself to a tastier cut on a regular basis.

Vegetables Can Help You Lose Love Handles

By combining your increased protein consumption with lots of vegetables you’ll create an environment for fast and healthy fat burning. Vegetables have lots of vitamins, minerals, and more importantly for fat loss, lots of fiber.

The fiber keeps you full and it also helps to stabilize your blood sugar, giving you more energy and limiting hormones that make your body store fat.
